This statement referred to earlier comments about providing advanced weapons to Ukraine.

Diplomatic Moves and Global Responses

An ex- American diplomat, a foreign policy expert, observed, "Putin is attempting to derail the momentum toward increased pressure on the Kremlin." Fried continued, "We'll see on Friday, but the likelihood of achieving a ceasefire by pushing Moscow to engage sincerely seem to have decreased."

The situation came after Trump had in recent days been hardening his language toward Moscow until the recent call with the Russian president, which the Russian government described as "highly open and constructive."

European Energy Sanctions and Economic Impact

EU authorities have set a mandate for fuel importers into the European Union to prove their fuels are not made from Russian oil, as stated in a document published on Thursday. This measure is part of the European Union's upcoming prohibition on purchases of refined products made from Russian petroleum, which is included in its 18th restrictive measures against Moscow over its military actions in the region.

Financial experts observed that investment patterns appeared to be considering the possible reduction of Indian purchases of Russian crude. Several oil processors in India are getting ready to reduce purchases from Russia, with projections of a gradual decrease, as reported by insiders knowledgeable about the situation.

"This represents a positive development for the crude oil price as it would eliminate a big customer of Russian crude," commented a market analyst, adding that oil prices were stable on Thursday.

Security Developments and Energy Strikes

A massive Russian drone and rocket attack targeted energy infrastructure in eastern Ukraine on Thursday, causing outages in multiple areas. Authorities in Ukraine reported that Russia deployed numerous of unmanned vehicles and many of projectiles, along with glide bombs.

"During this fall, the Russian forces use daily opportunities to strike at our energy infrastructure," declared Ukraine's president, adding that strikes affected the areas of Chernihiv, eastern Ukraine, Poltava, northeastern Ukraine and western Ukraine.
